Books
Eric Sheninger (Digital Leadership: Changing Paradigms for Changing Times) is another book that I plan to delve into. While it is written from the context of leadership, I encourage you to check it out. After reading the intro and first chapter, I am convinced this book is a great read for all educators who want to drive technology integration.
Four years ago, I conquered my Twitter-phobia by simply jumping in and checking it out. The rest is history. My learning has exploded rapidly by learning from educators across the globe. Over the summer, I will be hosting some Twitter chats (dates and times TBA) for Tatum ISD educators wishing to try it out. If you are interested in learning more about Twitter, read my post called
Also, let me know if you are interested in participating in some Twitter chats this summer and let me know topics you are interested in collaborating about.
Here is also a 5 minute video on Personal Learning Networks. It illustrates how PLNs can help you grow in your own learning.
Region 7
Of course, there will be workshops in Kilgore that I will go check out. If you're interested in seeing what's available, here is a link to the workshops offered this summer. There are tons of learning opportunities offered through Region 7. Here are some trainings that are being featured this summer.
- Bard & Breakfast for ELA Teachers
- Social Studies Summit
- Curriculum Conference over 90 sessions in all content areas presented by teachers from Region 7
- Digital Scoops for Library & Media Personnel
- Fine Arts Summit
- High School Math Content Cohorts (this looks very interesting)
- Going through a Phase of the Moon (ONLINE COURSE)
- New TEKS Training for Algebra 1 & 2, and Geometry

Happy #TeacherAppreciation Week
Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week. I hope that you received lots of words of thanks for the job that you do every day to make this world a better place. I came across this quote on Facebook last week, and I think you'll like it.
Well headed to Math CAMT in July & so excited since I get to learn LOTS of new things there. I am also participating in Region 7 - Project Share learning/training this summer & continuing with my Masters in Curriculum & Instruction. I am always ready to learn more & new technology aspects so count me in on ANY twitter chats. I am starting a personal blog/website this summer about life in general & my life in education.
ReplyDeleteExcited about June 16, headed out on a 5 day cruise with hubby, kids, & their friends. Nervous about leaving my dad since he is going through lots of things these days and we are not sure what will be next. Overall, a lot of online learning and spending time with family but also preparing for our son to move to the next step in life - college in July. So it looks to be a VERY busy summer, but loving ever minute of it. So thankful.
That sounds like a great summer personally and professionally. I am interested to hear what you learn about Project Share. Please let me know what their plans are for keeping the program going. What type of topics do you think you and your colleagues would like to discuss on Twitter chats? I am starting to get ideas and would like yours. I hope you have a great summer with your family.
DeleteMy summer will be spent getting the 500 tablets the primary has ready for the 2014-2015 school year! In addition to working on tablets, I will be planning August Staff Development and a Staff Development so the teachers can meet their comp day requirement for just the Primary Teachers. I also have a Florida trip and a New York trip planned with some friends. The rest of the time will be spent playing with my two children, Avery and Justin!
